Strategic Offshore Wind Event held at the Port of Waterford
Port of Waterford hosted a unique gathering of offshore wind industry leaders and business stakeholders in the South East.
For the event there was an exceptional lineup of speakers: pioneering supply chain executives, business leaders, skills development experts and a panel of industry visionaries, chaired by Port of Waterford Director Marian Walsh, which discussed the opportunities and challenges facing offshore wind development in Ireland and the South East.
It is clear from the panel discussion, the potential on our doorstep, in nearby designated marine zones, will create business, technical and employment opportunities in the South East and beyond.
Many thanks to organisers Waterford Chamber and sponsors Energia Renewables and Vårgrønn.
We had contributions from Energia, Vårgrønn, Waterford City & County Council, Wind Energy Ireland, Artemis Technologies Ltd, Eastgate Engineering and Green Rebel.
In addition, organisations represented were: Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, Department of Enterprise, Department of Transport, IDA, EirGrid, Commission for Regulation of Utilities, Enterprise Ireland as well as KPMG, PWC, South East Technological University, Rosslare Europort, Waterford Airport, Waterford Council, Kilkenny County Council, Wexford County Council and many other businesses from the industry and across the region.
To build on this event, it is important to continue the discussions to ensure that progress is made to deliver on the potential and provide for future energy security.
