Public Notice – Essential Repairs works Passage East Spit Beacon
Port of Waterford Company intend to carry out essential repair works to the Passage East Spit Beacon at a site located in the Barrow Nore Suir Estuary between Passage East and Arthurstown, between County Waterford and County Wexford (OS Reference S 708560e8e3).
The repair works will consist of repairing / replacing poorly deteriorated frame elements, cleaning down and coating the frame with protective paint and removing the concrete deck. As part of proposed repairs, the majority of the iron pieces will be removed. The existing piles screwed into the riverbed will be retained and not removed during the repair process.
The Appropriate Assessment Screening Determination has been made by the Port of Waterford as the Competent Authority and determined that a Natura Impact Statement (NIS) is required for the proposed works.
The NIS and all related documents may be inspected and are currently available [for a fee of €20 at the offices of the Port of Waterford] and on the Port of Waterford Company website at www.portofwaterford.com.
A submission or observation in relation to the works can be made to the Port of Waterford email info@portofwaterford.com within 30 days of the date of this notice.
