Port of Waterford is Ireland’s closest multi-modal port to mainland Europe.

Our rail connection is a significant advantage, with the national rail link running right through our port, enabling us to provide the greenest traffic route in and out of Ireland. We also have uncongested road connections to the rest of Ireland.

We’re the gateway to Ireland’s South East region and have regular shipping services to and from continental Europe and beyond. Container traffic primarily goes via Rotterdam, while bulk cargoes come/go via Europe, Baltics and North America.

We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Belview Port and Waterford Inner Port operate under the ISPS Code (International Ship & Port Security).

Waterford Harbour is an estuary. This means various navigational and operational factors need to be considered including tide, depths and marked navigation channel. There are no beam or air-draft restrictions. Ships up to c. 32,000 dwt can be handled subject to tide, however to ensure safe navigation, pilotage is compulsory. Vessels greater than 170m length overall (LOA) can be accommodated, however this must be planned in advance with the Harbour Master.
