The marina is owned and operated by Waterford City Council and is located on the south quays of the Suir, immediately adjacent to the city centre.

It stretches from Rice Bridge to Waterford's most famous landmark - Reginald's Tower, at its downstream end. It is central to all amenities in the city and is presently undergoing a rennaissance.

An additional marina was added prior to the arrival of the Tall Ships in 2005, and this is available for general use.
