Fondly known as the ‘Sunny South East’, our region is famous for its vibrant towns, stunning rural countryside and pretty coastal villages.

The region has a diverse mix of landscapes from gorgeous woodlands, to dramatic coastlines and the idyllic waters of the Blackwater, Barrow More, Suir and Slaney Rivers.

South East Region

The region has a rich maritime tradition too. The Vikings chose Waterford City to settle and trade, while Merchants filled the bustling Quays with their exotic goods. The iconic Rock of Cashel and Kilkenny Castle are just two of the many heritage sites that give the area its reputation as Ireland’s historic region. The south east is also known for its dynamic arts and crafts culture, with the Waterford Crystal Visitor Centre a must see for stunning glassware.

There’s just so much to explore by foot, bicycle, rail or car. Hit the coast, hop on the Greenway or grab a fishing rod and take to the river.
